It's time for fun! With the retro-style "Fokker-Morane" hobby aerobatic sport flyer FunStik, you'll have a lot of fun in the workshop and at the airfield. FunStik is an ideal project for model builders who already have experience building simpler models and are familiar with flying high-wing aircraft with controllable ailerons. Thanks to the excellent design with laser-cut parts, equipped with notches and protrusions that fit together like pieces of a puzzle, assembly is very quick and easy. Whether you equip FunStik with a 3.5–4 cc internal combustion engine or a 500–600 W brushless electric motor, you'll have an agile and swift aerobatic model that will bring you a lot of enjoyment!
The FunStik model was designed and is manufactured in the Czech Republic.
The fuselage has a classic balsa and light plywood construction. Its backbone is formed by the lower balsa plate with laser-cut grooves, into which you gradually insert all the bulkheads, partitions, and side walls. The internal combustion engine is attached to the plastic engine mount on the plywood firewall. Similarly, a rear-mounted electric motor can be easily installed. The space for rudder, elevator, and throttle servos is located in the fuselage under the wing. A removable cover on the top then allows access to the fuel tank or the insertion of a drive battery.
The one-piece wing with a symmetrical airfoil has a classic construction with balsa ribs and solid D-box sheeting. It is attached to the fuselage with two plastic screws. Here too, assembly is facilitated by the use of laser-cut parts with puzzle-style notches and protrusions. This allows you to assemble everything correctly and without twisting, without the need for jigs. The full-span ailerons are controlled by two micro servos with short direct pushrods. The wing design allows for the linkage and aileron levers to be attached to the underside of the wing (suitable for flights with landing gear) or to the top of the wing (suitable for flights without landing gear with belly landings in grass).
The tail surfaces are made from laser-cut balsa parts reinforced with spars. The rudder and elevator are controlled via Bowden cables from servos located in the fuselage under the wing.
The landing gear with a fixed tail skid is made of duralumin, with lightweight wheels.
To control the model, you need at least a 4-channel RC set. Servos with a torque of 3–4 kg.cm are suitable for the rudder and elevator. To reduce the weight of the electric model, you can install mini or micro servos with similar parameters. For ailerons and throttle, use high-quality micro servos.
For model propulsion, you can choose ordinary two-stroke engines with a 3.5–4.0 cc glow plug and a 100–150 ml tank. If you opt for the more powerful O.S. MAX-25FX II, a 150–170 ml tank is preferable.
In the electric version, you can install a 500–600 W brushless electric motor.
The kit includes:
- laser-cut balsa and plywood parts
- spruce spars, balsa spars, and sheets for solid sheeting
- an accessory set
- duralumin landing gear, lightweight wheels
- a sheet of self-adhesive decals
- assembly plan and instructions
