Grunau Baby 1:4 Scale Kit
Grunau Baby 1:4 Kit
The Grunau Baby was developed in 1932 as an improvement on the ESG 31 Stanavo, designed by Edmund Schneider and Wolf Hirth. It quickly became the most popular training glider, and many pilots earned their Silver C on this type.
Although the aircraft was further developed over the years up to the Series III, the Type IIb was the most common. This series was therefore used as a model for our scale models. The model was precisely scaled to 1:6 and 1:4. Changes to the external shape were consistently avoided, so that rib spacing, trailing edges, and planking match the original. The wing is strut-braced, just like the original.
Due to the angular fuselage shape, building the model is not as difficult as, for example, a Minimoa, but experience in handling balsa wood is absolutely essential.
The kit contains all wooden parts carefully milled, as well as all metal and linkage parts.
