The Jodel D.9 BéBé is a single-seat sports aircraft designed by French constructors Edouard Joly and Jean Delemontez. They began development in 1947 and flew the first prototype, registered F-WEPF, in January 1948, powered by an 18 kW two-cylinder boxer engine.
From 1952, the aircraft was also built by amateur aircraft builders in Germany, but it only received its certification in 1958. Several thousand examples were built worldwide by amateurs and are still flown today.
The 1:3 scale model was designed by Philipp Gardemin. The goal was to create this popular aircraft type in a simple and robust construction as an everyday, sports, and towing model, with an impressive size yet easily transportable. The central wing section is made from one piece (approx. 1.5 m), and the wingtips are plug-in. The long and damped landing gear legs are easily removable to avoid getting in the way during transport.
The horizontal stabilizer is also bolted, and even the rudder can be removed in a few simple steps.
The large wooden model impresses with its problem-free yet agile flight characteristics and a great, realistic flight appearance. It thus allows for an easy entry into the world of scale large models.
The model can be powered by engines from approx. 20 cc or electric drives from 8s LiPo or Li-Ion. There are no limits to the individual customization of the model beyond the scope of the kit; suitable prototypes can easily be found with an internet search.
