M2 EVO MK2, Heli, ARF, Rotor dia. 434mm, ORANGE
The M2 EVO MK2 micro-helicopter, with a main rotor diameter of 434 mm, features a CCPM swashplate controlled by electronically mixed servos via a flybarless rotor head. It now incorporates a new 3G three-axis gyroscopic system, fully configurable in the app, instead of the usual mechanical stabilizer and gyro that stabilize the helicopter around the vertical axis. It has a brushless motor and an electronic speed controller with a governor function. An intelligent control unit is suitable for helicopter beginners in tilt stabilization mode, as well as for wild acrobatics without limits in 3D mode.
Let's take a closer look at the latest gem from OMP Hobby's design offices. The fuselage structure is based on a duralumin motor mount and main shaft housing with attached carbon fiber side panels and frames, a plastic landing gear, and a tail boom made of profiled duralumin tubing with a carbon fiber vertical stabilizer.
Inside the frame sits the new, more powerful Sunnysky® R40 brushless electric motor with a higher KV750, which directly drives the main rotor. The tail rotor is also directly driven by a Sunnysky® R13-3 brushless miniature motor. This makes the entire mechanism as simple as possible and avoids problems with worn gears or slipping drives.
The robust 4mm main rotor shaft is supported by ball bearings. The swashplate is made of duralumin, as is the rotor head with blade grips. Thanks to the 3G flybarless system and electronic CCPM, the rotor head with newly optimized geometry is very simple. The main rotor blade holders are a beautiful miniature of the holders of large RC helicopters - with all the ball bearings and damping inserts!
The helicopter's electronics consist of a new intelligent 3G Flybarless OFS3 control unit with an integrated electronic speed controller with governor function for the main rotor motor and controller for the tail rotor motor, and three 10g digital servos (1.65 kg.cm, 0.08 s/60°) for controlling the CCPM swashplate (120°). To control the helicopter, you need at least a 6-channel RC set with a miniature receiver with an S.BUS port (or also DSM2/DSMX and now also with the bidirectional CRSF protocol with telemetry - systems supported include TBS Crossfire, Tracer, and ExpressLRS). For normal flight operation, the transmitter does not even need to be computer-controlled (all necessary mixes are handled by the control unit); only 4 channels on the sticks and the fifth channel with a two-position switch for switching between stabilization and 3D modes of the control unit are sufficient. For classic and 3D flight, of course, you need a computer transmitter with 2-3 adjustable flight modes with at least 5-point collective curves for hovering and aerobatics, and another mode for autorotation. With the extensive setting options of the control unit in the smartphone app (including detailed PIDF control loop settings), most settings that previously required a sophisticated computer RC set can be made via the smartphone app (for iOS and Android operating systems). You can, but you don't have to - the control unit comes pre-configured. Its basic parameters can also be set via the programming button and indicator LEDs on the control unit if necessary, as was the case with previous versions of OMPHOBBY control units.
The easily removable canopy is made of a very light thermoformed part of durable plastic. The helicopter is powered by a 3-cell LiPo battery 11.1 V 750 mAh with a discharge rate of 60C (with XT30 connector), which is mounted on the underside of the fuselage. It allows up to 10 minutes of easy flying or up to 4 minutes of aggressive 3D aerobatics.
The helicopter comes fully assembled with a pre-set control unit. So all you have to do is unpack the helicopter, connect your S.BUS/DSM2/DSMX/CRSF compatible receiver, charge the flight battery, follow the detailed instructions with clear pictures to set up your transmitter, check all the helicopter's functions - and you're ready to go!
The M2 EVO MK2 is a 3D helicopter with collective pitch control - and as such, it requires appropriate pilot experience. It is not a drone that you simply throttle up, launch, and hover without any control inputs. The M2 EVO MK2 is suitable for advanced pilots who already have experience flying helicopters with collective pitch control (6-channel). However, with enough perseverance, prior training on an RC simulator, under the supervision of an experienced pilot, and using the stabilized mode, an inexperienced helicopter pilot can also fly the M2 EVO MK2.
The ARF helicopter set includes:
- a 100% assembled and flight-ready M2 EVO MK2 model
- Bluetooth® module
- a 11.1 V 750 mAh 60C LiPo flight battery
- a spare main shaft and main rotor shaft
- spare servo arms and a small set of screws
- tool for swashplate leveling
- a sturdy EPP foam box with hinged lid for safe transport and storage of the model
- instructions for operating the model and setting up the control unit
