With the new TWISTY 3D aerobatic motor glider, you can have a lot of fun on flat ground and on slopes. The glider not only has large control surfaces, as is common with 3D models. It not only has a fully movable elevator, but for perfect maneuverability, it even rotates the entire wing halves. TWISTY is at home on mountain slopes, over sea cliffs or dunes, where it can really accelerate in strong, steady winds. So that you can also enjoy it where the hills are not so high and the wind is only weak, we have installed a powerful brushless motor with a folding propeller.
The fuselage of the model is made of highly resistant EPO foam (extruded polyolefin) with fixed internal carbon fiber reinforcements. A C2820-1450 brushless motor with a 7x6" folding propeller and a KAVAN R-20SB Plus ESC are installed in the nose. The canopy is removable and is fastened at the front with a pin and at the rear with a mechanical lock. In the nose you will find enough space for a drive battery and a receiver. Micro servos with metal gears for controlling the wing halves, rudder and elevator are housed in the space under the wing. The tail units are controlled by Bowden cables, the wing halves by adjustable linkages with ball joints.
The wing of the model, made of EPO foam, consists of two carbon fiber reinforced parts. The wing halves are attached to the carbon fiber tube connector and secured with screws. They are independently controlled by two servos with short straight wire linkages. To facilitate the adjustment of the neutral position, triangular markings on the fuselage indicate the center position of the trailing edge.
The tail units are also made of EPO foam with carbon fiber reinforcements. There is a fully movable elevator. The halves are attached to the carbon fiber tube connector and secured with screws. The model is powered by the C2820-1450 brushless motor with the 20 A KAVAN R-20SB Plus ESC.
For power supply, you need a 3-cell LiPo pack with a capacity of approx. 1300 mAh and a minimum discharge rate of 30C. Choose a specific type so that the correct center of gravity is maintained as well as possible without additional ballast.
To control the model, you need at least a 6-channel computer RC set that allows independent control of wing halves (ailerons) by two servos. To increase maneuverability ("sharper" turns), it has an elevator -> flaperon mix. The instructions, of course, also include a detailed table with a proven standard setting for the rudder deflections (including mix), so you can easily prepare Twisty for its first flight.
