uniLIGHT Towline Winch SMALL

The new generation 3 uniLIGHT towline winches represent another milestone for aero-towing in model aviation. These winches make everyday aero-towing extremely convenient and safe. After the glider releases, the towline can be retrieved completely automatically, allowing for a safe flight and worry-free landing. The intelligently controlled rewind automatic offers numerous possibilities for both beginners and professionals. The functionality, electronics, and software are identical across all models; they only differ in installation size, weight, winding capacity, stiffness, and thus also in their respective applications.

The SMALL standard version is for ambitious towing, optimized for minimal size and lowest weight, ideal for electric operation and gliders up to approx. 10-12kg and lines with 0.8 and 1mm thickness.

The winches are made of CNC-machined aluminum parts and milled fiber composite plates. This allows us to achieve the lowest weight with the highest strength. A light, brushless motor with a jam-free belt drive serves as the propulsion. With a slipper clutch, operation as an electric spring is also possible. The motor output stage, the entire control electronics, and the servo for emergency release are already integrated. Each winch comes with a powerful uniLIGHT.at flashing light, which allows the operating status to be recognized from the ground. Each winch can be configured via the uniLIGHT PLUS interface and our uniLIGHT.DESK in Windows and Android.

Upon delivery, the winch is universally operated manually, meaning towing, winding, and emergency release are possible. Further intelligent functions can then be activated in the DESK. To do this, the line must first be taught, meaning the line length is saved. Numerous functions are only then fully available; here are the core systems:

• The intelligent release allows the line to be released only when it is almost fully unwound. This prevents accidental ejection on the ground.
• Dynamic towing with electric spring function can be defined for a specific line length. The glider is thus only pulled up to this line length and then gently stopped.
• Manual, intelligent winding can be activated at any time during towing if the line sags. As long as there is movement on the line, the function remains active; when there is no movement or the line is extended, it switches off automatically.
• The remaining line function influences how much line is actually retracted; the value is freely adjustable and can be adapted to the towing model.
• The remaining line winding can automatically retract the remaining line when the model is completely stationary on the ground.
• Freely configurable winding speeds for all operating modes.
• All parameters can be manually optimized, set, or automatically determined after the learning process.
• Galvanically isolated system with master-slave shutdown requires no separate switch for power supply.
• Operable via only one servo channel, 2S LiPo/LiIon as power supply.
• Undervoltage control protects the battery but still allows for emergency release of the line as classic towing.
